Recommended Squad settings
Researched August 2026. Copy any config below to grab these values.| Setting | PvP | Balanced | Visual Quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display modeGuides recommend true Fullscreen over Borderless for lower input lag and more stable frame times in Squad's large multiplayer battles. | Fullscreen | Fullscreen | Fullscreen |
| Ambient occlusionTurning off ambient occlusion trims a demanding effect and removes darkened contact shadows that can conceal enemies in corners, in line with the overall low-shadow visibility approach. | Off | On | On |
| Anti-aliasing qualityGuides favor a moderate in-engine AA (around 8x samples/TAA) as the clarity sweet spot, avoiding both jagged edges and the softness of maxed-out AA. | Medium | High | High |
| Resolution scaleBoth guides that specify a resolution scale land on 100 percent (native) as the balance point before dropping into upscaling territory. | 100 | 100 | 100 |
| Texture qualityPerformance-focused guides set textures to Medium with anisotropic filtering around 8x for solid clarity without pushing VRAM usage too far. | Medium | High | Epic |
| Effects qualityGuides specifically advise keeping particle/effects quality higher than the rest of the preset so smoke and explosions still read clearly instead of turning into a blur of low-res sprites. | High | High | Epic |
| Frame rate limitMultiple guides converge on capping the in-game frame rate to roughly 90-120 for smoother, more consistent frame times rather than leaving it uncapped. | 120 FPS | 120 FPS | Uncapped |
| Shadow qualityConsensus across guides and player discussion is to run shadows Low or Off, since it noticeably boosts FPS and removes dark patches enemies can hide in. | Low | Medium | Epic |
| VSyncV-Sync is consistently recommended off to cut input latency, with guides noting it should only be re-enabled if screen tearing/flickering appears. | Off | Off | Off |
| Foliage qualityReducing foliage is explicitly called out as both an FPS win and a visibility win, since thick grass and bushes in Squad's maps are a common place for enemies to hide. | Low | Medium | Epic |
| Motion blurEvery source that mentions motion blur says to disable it outright, since it smears moving targets and hurts target acquisition. | Off | Off | Off |
| Post-process qualityCommunity advice leans toward stripping post-process extras (bloom, lens flare, sharpening filters) to reduce visual noise, though no guide gives it a precise quality tier. | Low | Medium | Epic |
| View distance qualityGuides note that lowering the environment/view distance setting is one of the biggest FPS levers during large battles, which matters more than long-range render detail when frame time is the bottleneck. | Low | Medium | Epic |

What are the best graphics settings for competitive FPS games?
Most competitive players lower shadow quality, effects, and post-processing to maximize frame rate and reduce visual noise, while keeping texture and anti-aliasing settings high enough to spot enemies clearly. The exact values differ per game and per PC - that's why our configs come from real players and show every individual setting, so you can copy a proven setup that matches your hardware.
Is Settings For Games free?
Yes. Browsing, copying, and publishing configs is completely free, and so is the Windows app. No signup is needed to copy settings. If the project helps you, there's an optional donation link.
Will copying a config overwrite my keybinds or sensitivity?
No. The copy & merge dialog keeps your personal settings - keybinds, mouse sensitivity, audio levels, crosshair colors - and only takes the graphics and performance values from the community config. You can also copy the raw config if you want everything.
Is the Windows app safe to use?
The app is a portable EXE that never modifies game files beyond the official settings/config files each game already exposes. It previews every change before writing and creates an automatic backup, so you can restore your previous settings at any time. Unsigned builds can show a Windows SmartScreen prompt until the file builds reputation.
Which games are supported?
The app can automatically apply settings for Rust, ARC Raiders, Valorant, and League of Legends, and can read Counter-Strike 2 settings. On the website you can browse and copy configs for 70+ cataloged games, including Escape from Tarkov, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Warzone, PUBG, Overwatch 2, and Marvel Rivals - and you can suggest any game we're missing.
How do I share my own config?
Either upload your config file on the website (sign in, then "Publish a config"), or use the desktop app: it detects your installed games, reads your current settings, and publishes them to your profile in a couple of clicks. Configs can be public, unlisted, or private.
