Recommended Escape from Tarkov settings
Researched August 2026. Copy any config below to grab these values.| Setting | PvP | Balanced | Visual Quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display modeMultiple guides agree Fullscreen gives Tarkov exclusive access to system resources for the most stable frame times, ahead of Borderless. | Fullscreen | Borderless fullscreen | Fullscreen |
| Ambient occlusionHBAO (Tarkov's ambient occlusion) is turned off in every guide that tests it, worth roughly 5 FPS with no visibility benefit in a fast-paced shooter. | Off | Off | On |
| Anti-aliasing qualityGuides converge on using TAA specifically because it smooths jagged edges with minimal FPS cost, which maps to a Medium tier rather than pushing for maximum AA. | Medium | Medium | High |
| Resolution scaleEvery fetched guide recommends running native/1x resolution and only dropping resampling if a specific map (Streets) can't hold 60 FPS, so 100 is the correct default. | 100 | 100 | 100 |
| Texture qualityThree of four guides recommend keeping textures High since Tarkov's texture setting has little FPS impact but Low/Medium noticeably muddies target identification at range. | High | High | High |
| Effects qualityAll three guides that mention screen-space reflections (SSR) recommend turning them off for a consistent 3-5 FPS gain with no visibility downside. | Low | Low | High |
| Frame rate limitNo fetched guide names a specific frame cap; since Tarkov is CPU-bound, leaving it uncapped lets the engine push whatever the CPU allows rather than an arbitrary limit. | Uncapped | Uncapped | Uncapped |
| Shadow qualityAll four guides independently found Low shadows both faster and clearer, since High/Epic shadows create dark pockets that hide player silhouettes in corners and behind cover. | Low | Low | Medium |
| VSyncTwo fetched guides explicitly recommend enabling VSync to remove tearing since Tarkov's engine rarely produces frame rates high enough for VSync input lag to outweigh the tearing it removes. | On | On | On |
| Foliage qualityOnly one fetched guide addresses vegetation directly (disabling grass shadows for performance); lowering foliage detail also aligns with the well-known Tarkov practice of reducing grass density to see players hiding in bushes, but this specific key is editorial extrapolation. | Low | Low | Medium |
| Motion blurEvery guide that mentions motion blur/Z-blur disables it, since blurring the screen during turns and movement directly hides target motion. | Off | Off | Off |
| Post-process qualityGuides consistently disable depth of field, chromatic aberration, and film grain/noise because these post effects blur or tint the image and make moving players harder to pick out. | Low | Low | Medium |
| View distance qualityGuides recommend an Overall Visibility distance around 1000-1500 as the sweet spot that still lets players spot distant enemies without the CPU cost of maxing render distance. | Medium | High | Epic |

What are the best graphics settings for competitive FPS games?
Most competitive players lower shadow quality, effects, and post-processing to maximize frame rate and reduce visual noise, while keeping texture and anti-aliasing settings high enough to spot enemies clearly. The exact values differ per game and per PC - that's why our configs come from real players and show every individual setting, so you can copy a proven setup that matches your hardware.
Is Settings For Games free?
Yes. Browsing, copying, and publishing configs is completely free, and so is the Windows app. No signup is needed to copy settings. If the project helps you, there's an optional donation link.
Will copying a config overwrite my keybinds or sensitivity?
No. The copy & merge dialog keeps your personal settings - keybinds, mouse sensitivity, audio levels, crosshair colors - and only takes the graphics and performance values from the community config. You can also copy the raw config if you want everything.
Is the Windows app safe to use?
The app is a portable EXE that never modifies game files beyond the official settings/config files each game already exposes. It previews every change before writing and creates an automatic backup, so you can restore your previous settings at any time. Unsigned builds can show a Windows SmartScreen prompt until the file builds reputation.
Which games are supported?
The app can automatically apply settings for Rust, ARC Raiders, Valorant, and League of Legends, and can read Counter-Strike 2 settings. On the website you can browse and copy configs for 70+ cataloged games, including Escape from Tarkov, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Warzone, PUBG, Overwatch 2, and Marvel Rivals - and you can suggest any game we're missing.
How do I share my own config?
Either upload your config file on the website (sign in, then "Publish a config"), or use the desktop app: it detects your installed games, reads your current settings, and publishes them to your profile in a couple of clicks. Configs can be public, unlisted, or private.
